What a fascinating subject. This is quite an interesting essay. I love how you gave us tangible examples of beauty accompanied by the social impact of them. I must admit I’m checking out at about the ~20min mark. Respectfully, I think I would’ve preferred if there was a little more curiosity left in the room. I don't agree with you at all I think it all relates back to image and ego ..I mean surely some of your points make sense but for the most part no. for example buying luxury bags and clothing when it's nothing new and not as ethereal yet you see many people buying birkins and Gucci bags or iPhones as you said I mean they are better devices than iPhones yet people still choose to spend thousands on it and line up to buy it it's only about image and ego everybody wants to look like they're smarter and better and show off to other people. It comes back to insecurity and ego and that's why people waste their money on these things when they barely can eat everyday . That's why the Mona lisa is always looked at when just next to it there is a piece of art so beautiful and sophisticated with amazing history ,yet nobody is looking at it . People tend to find meaning and justify their preferences to what is famous to seem educated or better . And that's why some shows and movies are normal or mid but the main character is famous so everybody deems it perfect and interesting only because the actor is in it . That's why a drink might be SOOO delicious yet it doesn't gain fame until an influencer swears by it . I personally think it is about belonging and ego. I wrote this but the automatic thing of talking and I only tweaked it a little bit so I might have many mistakes in grammar and in meaning so forgive me 💕

Beauty is important. They created a whole branch of Philosophy (Aesthetics) to study it and its effects on us.
